2024年の “A Better Self” に続き、Poppy purrs factory（ジョイス・ホァン）による
2回目となる個展を開催いたします。
今回の展覧会では、ペインティングを中心に、現在の彼女を形づくる多様な表現を展示する予定です。
前回よりさらに自由度の高い作品群となる見込みで、これまでの創作の延長線上にありながらも、
新たな側面を垣間見ることができる内容となります。
私はこれまでも、現代アーティストが制作の過程で残した紙資料の展示がとても好きでした。
そこには、彼らの日常や創作の記録がそのまま息づいています。
20代前半にヨーロッパへ留学していた頃、Andy Warhol Studio のポラロイド展を観ました。
アーティスト自身のセルフポートレートや日常的な創作が、ポラロイド写真という小さな枠の中に、
強い個性として落とし込まれている様子に深く魅了されたことを覚えています。
その体験をきっかけに、私自身も平面作品の制作を楽しみながら、
その時々の自分の姿を写真として記録したいと思うようになりました。
今回の展覧会は、約2年ぶりの個展となります。
最近は鉛筆による自画像作品にも再び取り組み始めており、
これまでの記録と新たな試みが交差する展示となる予定です。

Following the 2024 exhibition A Better Self,
Jimbocho Gallery is pleased to present Poppy purrs factory (Joyce Huang)’s
second solo exhibition with us.
This exhibition will feature a range of works centered on painting,
showcasing the diverse expressions that shape her current artistic identity.
While positioned as a continuation of her previous creations,
the works are expected to explore new degrees of freedom and offer glimpses into fresh perspectives.
I have always been drawn to exhibitions that reveal the paper materials and notes left behind by contemporary artists during their creative process.
In those fragments, their daily lives and traces of their practice feel vividly alive.
When I was in my early twenties studying in Europe, I visited a Polaroid exhibition from the Andy Warhol Studio.
I remember being deeply captivated by how the artist’s self-portraits and everyday creative moments were
embedded with such strong individuality within the small frame of a Polaroid photograph.
That experience eventually led me to enjoy creating two-dimensional works while also recording my own appearance through photographs from time to time.
This exhibition marks my first solo show in about two years.
Recently, I have also returned to drawing self-portraits in pencil,
and the presentation is expected to bring together past records and new explorations.

Poppy Purrs Factory Joyce Huang(ジョイス・ホァン)
1988年、台北生まれ。幼少時に90年代アンダーグラウンドカルチャーやマンガ、アニメの影響を強く受ける。主にインクやコラージュ等をミックスして作品を制作。2012年、スペイン在学中に、スタジオ「Poppy Purrs Factory」を立ち上げ、フリーの傍ら美術講師などをしながら現在に至る。2019年、日本に移居。関東を拠点に活動。
